ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a device for regulat- ing the thickness of the coating suspension layer deposited on a continuous web of paper supported by the lateral surface of a coating machine roller, comprising an elastically deformable blade, one end of which is free and is thrust against said layer in such a manner as to elastically deform said blade in order to generate a reaction force between the blade and the web supported by the roller, characterized in that said free end is provided with a face which as said reaction force varies, is kept substantially parallel to said lateral surface of the roller and hence to said coating suspension layer deposited on the web supported by said surface.
