A method for depositing a polymeric material onto a substrate, said method comprising introducing an organic monomeric material in a gaseous state into a plasma deposition chamber, igniting a glow discharge within said chamber, and applying a high frequency voltage as a pulsed field, at a power of from 0.001 to 500w/m3 for a sufficient period of time to allow a polymeric layer to form on the surface of the substrate. The method is particularly suitable for producing oil and water repellent coatings, in particular where the monomeric material contains haloalkyl compounds. Apparatus particularly adapted to carry out the method of the invention is also described and claimed.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déposer un matériau polymère sur un substrat. Ce procédé consiste à introduire un matériau monomère organique à un état gazeux dans une chambre de dépôt en phase vapeur activé par plasma, à allumer une décharge luminescente dans cette chambre et à appliquer une tension haute fréquence sous forme d'un champ pulsé, à une puissance comprise entre 0,001 et 500w/m3 pendant une période suffisante pour qu'une couche polymère se forme sur la surface du substrat. Ce procédé convient particulièrement à la production de revêtements oléofuges et hydrofuges, notamment des revêtements où le matériau monomère contient des composés haloalkyle. L'invention concerne également un appareil spécialement conçu pour mettre en oeuvre le procédé selon l'invention.
