A reduced calorie coating composition for frozen desserts is in the form of a water-in oil emulsion which comprises 40 to 55 % by weight water and 2 to 4% by weight of an emulsifier system comprising a decaglycerine decafatty acid ester. The reduced calorie coating composition may be used to form a film or layer or inclusion in a frozen dessert product.
