In spread spectrum communications, a method for allocating and re-allocating channelization codes to new and existing channels in a way that makes the maximum number of codes available at a given time for channels of different rates and different spreading factors. If re-allocations are not performed, a communication system employing the invention has a higher capacity than a system employing a random allocation strategy. The invention also reduces signaling overhead for re- allocations in comparison to a random allocation strategy because fewer re-allocations are necessary.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé utilisé dans des communications à étalement du spectre pour l'attribution et la réattribution de codes de canalisation à des nouveaux canaux et à des canaux existants, de façon à rendre disponible le nombre maximum de codes à un moment donné pour des canaux de débits différents et de facteurs d'étalement différents. Si les réattributions ne sont pas effectuées, un système de communication utilisant cette invention possède une capacité plus grande qu'un système utilisant une stratégie d'attribution aléatoire. Cette invention réduit également les coûts de signalisation pour les réattributions, par rapport à une stratégie d'attribution aléatoire, parce que des réattributions en moins grand nombre sont nécessaires.
