TITLE: COEXTRUDED HEAT SEALING COMPOSITE POLYOLEFIN FILM Inventor: BORIS W. PETRON ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composite film of a coextruded high density ethylene polymer resin and a film forming hot-melt adhesive. The film is readily sealable in a conventional forming and filling machine such as used in the manufacture of potato chips. The process of making the film comprises coextruding a high density ethylene polymer resin and a film forming hot-melt adhesive which is highly viscous, and cooling thereafter. The film forming hot melt adhesive may be a mixture of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, wax, and tackifier . The temperature of extrusion is about the same for both components of the film. Preferably, a tubular coextrudate is formed and inflated with air to desired size and then air cooled so that the composite has time to solidify without blocking at the nip. The collapsing of the tube is effected when the laminate is still warm to hot, in order to prevent creases.
