A brewing apparatus (20) for infusing compacted ground coffee in a grounds cup (102) at a brewing station with heated water under pressure. At a brewing station, a piston head (97) with an active seal (96) that is spaced from the grounds cup wall during motion, extends into the grounds cup (102) . When the piston head (97) begins to compact the ground coffee it activates the seal (96) to form a sealed upper end of a brewing chamber. Hot water is admitted to the brewing chamber to produce the coffee. When the brewing cycle is completed, the piston head (97) displaces further to force additional coffee from the grounds. Then the piston head (97) retracts to allow the infusion chamber assembly (32) to be removed for cleaning.

L'invention concerne un infuseur (20) pour l'infusion de café moulu, disposé compact dans une coupelle de mouture de café (102), à un poste d'infusion, avec utilisation d'eau chauffée, sous pression. Dans ce poste d'infusion, une tête de piston (97) ayant un joint actif (96) qui est à distance de la paroi de la coupelle de café moulu, s'étend, lors de son déplacement, dans ladite coupelle (102). Lorsque la tête de piston (97) commence à compacter le café moulu, il active le joint (96), de manière à former une extrémité supérieure étanche d'une chambre d'infusion. L'eau bouillante est admise dans la chambre d'infusion pour produire le café. Lorsque le cycle d'infusion est terminé, la tête de piston (97) continue de se déplacer pour refouler du café supplémentaire de la mouture. La tête de piston (97) se rétracte alors de façon que l'ensemble de chambre d'infusion (32) puisse être retiré pour le nettoyage.
