ABSTRACT A coffee or tea machine has a fresh water container with an outlet connection to a flow-through heater. A water- filter element provided which fits into a trough formed at the bottom of the container adjacent the outlet connection. The trough is moulded integrally with the container and contoured to match the shape of the filter element, which may be inserted into the trough from the top of the fresh water container and has seals engaging the trough to ensure that water leaving the container through the outlet connection passes through the filter. Apart from this, the design of the coffee or tea making machine may be conventional.
