A domed coffin lid comprising a flexible laminate layer secured upon a plurality of longitudinally extending grooved members which are in a side-by-side relationship and which terminate in flat side walls at their opposite ends. These longitudinal extending grooved members are then formed into a domed configuration and end boards are secured to their respective side walls so as to give form and rigidity to the lid. The coffin lid may be of the split type in which case it consists of a pair of identical lid sections, or it may be unitary in the sense that it is a single or discrete price.
