ABSTRACT An improved coil package comprises a closable carton formed from a folded blank of cardboard and, removably housed in the carton, a reel on which is carried a coil of wire. A hollow hub formed of a transversely folded metal strip extends between and is secured with respect to the reel flanges. Each reel flange is secured to the inner face of, or is restrained against movement in a direction away from and against rotational movement about its axis with respect to, the adjacent major side wall. Where the reel flanges are secured to the inner faces of the major side walls, boundaries between the major side walls and an outer peripheral wall are perforated to facilitate removal of the outer peripheral wall.
