A shield is provided for the protection of the inner convolutions of a coil of sheet material (36), the coil having a central opening (34) adapted to be engaged by a lifting device such as a probe inserted into the opening and then raised. The shield has a first section (12) for insertion into an end of the central opening of the coil, the first section being part-cylindrical and shaped to span a substantial part of the periphery of the central opening. The shield further has a second section (18-23) attached to the first section and extending outward to an outer edge, so that the second section abuts the end of a coil into which the first section has been inserted. At either peripheral end of the first section there is a wing section (14, 16) angled generally outwardly away from the axis of curvature of the first section so that, when the first section is positioned against the top of the central opening of a coil, the wing sections bear against the inside of the central opening and urge the first section upwardly, thus keeping it in place.
Cette invention concerne un dispositif permettant de protéger les enroulements intérieurs d'une bobine de matériau en lame (36), cette bobine présentant une ouverture centrale (34) conçue pour recevoir un dispositif de levage tel qu'une sonde insérée dans l'ouverture, puis soulevée. Ce dispositif de protection comporte une première partie (12) qui s'engage dans une extrémité de l'orifice central. Cette première partie présente une forme partiellement cylindrique et peut recouvrir une zone substantielle de la périphérie de l'orifice central. Le dispositif de protection comporte une seconde partie (18-23) reliée à la première partie, qui se déploie en direction de l'extérieur vers un bord externe, de telle sorte que cette seconde partie vient en butée conte l'extrémité de l'enroulement de lame dans laquelle la première partie à été introduite. Sur l'une ou l'autre des extrémités périphériques de la première partie, on trouve une partie à ailettes (14, 16) orientée généralement vers l'extérieur, en s'écartant de l'axe de cintrage de la première partie de sorte que lorsque la première partie est positionnée contre le haut de l'orifice central de la bobine, les parties à ailette portent contre l'intérieur de l'orifice central et repoussent la première partie vers le haut, la maintenant ainsi en place.
