463-31 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pull down door assembly and coin mechanism for a vending machine. There is a frame with a pull down door having a lower edge hinged to the frame for movement between a closed and an open position. A latch is fixed to an upper portion of the door. A latch release is present and includes a coin seat. A coin receiving and sorting mechanism is disposed intermediate the latch and the coin seat for wedging proper coinage against the coin seat to enable the latch release to release the latch as a consumer attempts to open the door. The door provides easier access to the interior of the machine than the prior art.
