A coin sorting and counting system which comprises a rotatable disc having a resilient surface for receiving mixed denomination coins and imparting rotational movement to the coins; means for rotating the disc; a stationary sorting head having a contoured surface spaced slightly away from and generally parallel to the resilient surface of said rotatable disc, the sorting head including means for queuing the coins on the disc into a single file of coins, and a guiding edge which engages selected edges of the coins in the single file and guides the coins along a prescribed path where the positions of the non-engaged edges of the coins are determined by the diameters of the respective coins; a counting station along the prescribed path for separately counting each coin denomination before the coins are sorted; and a sorting station spaced circumferentially from the counting station, in the direction of coin movement, for discriminating among coins of different denominations and selecting coins of different denominations for discharge from the rotating disc at different locations around the periphery of the sorting head.
Système de comptage et de triage de pièces de monnaie comprenant un disque rotatif à surface élastique pour recevoir les pièces de différentes valeurs et pour leur communiquer un mouvement de rotation; un dispositif pour faire tourner le disque; une tête de triage fixe ayant une surface profilée légèrement éloignée de la surface élastique du disque rotatif et généralement parallèle à cette dernière, la tête comprenant un dispositif pour aligner les pièces sur une seule file, et un bord de guidage qui engage les bords déterminés des pièces dans une seule file et les guide le long d'un trajet donné où les positions des bords non engagés des pièces de monnaie sont déterminées par les diamètres des pièces respectives; un poste de comptage le long du trajet donné pour compter séparément la valeur de chaque pièce avant le triage; et un poste de triage espacé de façon circulaire du poste de comptage, dans la direction du déplacement des pièces, pour faire la distinction entre les pièces de différentes valeurs et choisir celles à faire tomber du disque rotatif à différents emplacements autour de la périphérie de la tête de triage.
