A joint (42, 42a-c) is provided for joining plate members (18, 18a-c; 20, 20a-c) together for use in forming a trailer wall (28, 30, 32) or trailer door (34). The joint is formed by overlapping skin members (58, 58a-c, 56, 56a-c) of each plate member (18, 18a-c; 20, 20a-c). The overlapping skin members may each be located in a respective recess to provide a substantially flush surface.
