ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for the branding of pneumatic tires com- prising: an endless conveyor means; a plurality of stations along the path of the conveyor means; and a plurality of branding machines. The conveyor means support the branding machines in spaced relationship for movement intermittently from one station to another in a closed path. Conveying means at each of the stations supply and take away tires. Each branding machine has means for supporting a tire thereon. A stationary platen on the tire support means supports an inner portion of a sidewall of a tire; and a bracket is mounted on the support means for support- ing the lower portion of a tire. Cylinder means are connected to the bracket for adjusting the position of the bracket rela- tive to the stationary platen. A moveable platen is mounted on the branding machine for movement toward and away from the sta- tionary platen, the moveable platen having a branding head there- on. First actuating means are operatively connected to the move- able platen for selectively adjusting the angular position of the moveable platen relative to the stationary platen. Second actuat- ing means are connected to the moveable platen for movement there- of toward the stationary platen to carry the branding head into engagement with the sidewall of a tire supported by the station- ary platen, and held by the tire supporting means. Means are provided for heating the moveable platen and branding head to vulcanize an indicia on the sidewall of a tire upon engagement of the sidewall of a tire by the heated branding head.
