ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for the branding of tires comprising a platen having a front and rear plate member. The plate members have a planar surface for abutting each other; and the platen has a pair of bores extending longitudinally therethrough with their central axis lying along the juncture of the planar sur- faces. Heating elements are located in the first pair of bores. The front plate member has a pair of spaced bores extending horizontally therein. A third pair of bores extend from the lower portlon of the front plate member intersecting the hori- zontally extending bores. A branding head has a pair of pro- jections extending into the horizontally extending bores. Lock- ing means secure the branding head onto the front plate, the front plate having a pair of vertically extending bores extend- ing from the upper surface portion downwardly therein. A second branding head is received by the last mentioned bores for preheating thereof.
