A post (1) for a security fence (F) comprises a thin sheet of steel, say 2 to 4 mm thick, which has been cold-formed to be of generally I section and is then galvanised, side flanges (11) of the post (1) preferably having a cavity (16) to allow gases to pass therealong. The fence (F) preferably comprises rails (3) to which pales (4) are attached.
