An auxiliary agent for ophthalmic surgery which comprises collagen and, after the completion of surgery, undergoes a lowering in viscosity, and thus can be easily removed. This agent is a neutral solution of collagen which is transparent at a neutral pH and has a denaturation temperature below the intraocular temperature, or a derivative thereof. The agent has a visual light transmission at 400 nm of at least 90 % of that before the denaturation, when the solution is heated to cause denaturation.

Cette invention se rapporte à un agent auxiliaire pour chirurgie ophtalmologique, qui contient du collagène et qui, une fois l'intervention chirurgicale terminée, subit un abaissement de sa viscosité et peut par conséquent être éliminé facilement. Cet agent est constitué par une solution neutre de collagène, ou un dérivé de cette solution, qui est transparente à un pH neutre et qui possède une température de dénaturation inférieure à la température intra-oculaire. Cet agent présente une transmission de la lumière visible à 400 nm correspondant à au moins 90 % de celle avant la dénaturation, lors du chauffage de la solution entraînant la dénaturation.
