A birdcage comprises a plurality of longitudinally extending generally vertically oriented rods, and a plurality of generally horizontally extending bars. Each bar has one or more rods passing through it. Means are provided to join together the bars to form one or more closed figures, thereby to spread the rods to form a birdcage.
