ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention provides a collapsible bow saw having improved rigidity in an assembled condition and which is suit- able for convenient mass production. The bow saw comprises a frame and a saw blade. The frame is comprised of a main hollow element and two hollow end elements. The main and end elements have internal cavities and box profiles with closed cross sec- tions. The cavity of the main element is wider than the maxi- mum width of the blade and the exterior of the main element has a cross sectional dimension that is smaller than the cross sec- tional dimensions of the cavities of the end elements to that the main element is telescopically movable into the end ele- ments. The saw is provided with connections for connecting the end elements to the main element when the saw is assembled. These connections include a chamfered extremity with a protru- sion on the main element at each end, and first and second transverse flanges provided on each end of the main element. The chamfered extremity is disposed between the first and second transverse flanges and the protrusion is closer to the first transverse flange than the second. The chamfered extremity is disposed at an angle with respect to the axis of the main element, and further includes two side flanges pro- vided on each end element adjacent an end thereof and third and fourth transverse flanges provided on each end element adjacent an end thereof. The side flanges are spaced apart and the third and fourth flanges are spaced apart between the side flanges. The third transverse flange terminates in an end edge and the fourth transverse flange has a hole spaced from the end of the end element.
