A collapsible catheter is provided for irrigation or aspiration of the urinary bladder with fluid. The catheter consists of a pair of telescoping collapsible hollow elastomeric tubes (12, 13) which form an opening at the proximal end. A drainage opening (16) is provided at the distal end. The catheter is stiffened by inserting fluid between the tubes through a valve (14). A balloon (15) is provided to hold the catheter in place in a patient.

Le cathéter se compose d'une paire de tubes élastomères creux (12, 13), télescopiques et repliables présentant une ouverture à l'extrémité proximale. L'extrémité distale comprend un orifice de drainage (16). Le cathéter est raidi par l'insertion de fluide entre les tubes par l'intermédiaire d'une valve (14). Un ballonnet (15) permet de maintenir le cathéter en place dans le corps du patient.
