A collapsible container consists of three parts: a rigid top rim, a flexible center band, and a rigid base. This combination of sections allows the container to easily collapse to about one-third of its original height. The container is also quite stable when expanded and is self-supporting. In various embodiments of the invention, for example, the upper rim may be expandable, the base may include holes or mesh to serve as a colander or strainer, or the base may be configured as a tube to function as a funnel.

L'invention concerne un récipient escamotable constitué de trois parties : un rebord supérieur rigide, une bande centrale souple et une base rigide. La combinaison des tronçons permet au récipient de s'aplatir facilement d'environ un tiers de sa hauteur d'origine. Le récipient est également assez stable lorsqu'il est déployé, et est autoportant. Dans divers modes de réalisation de la présente invention, par exemple, le rebord supérieur peut être extensible, la base peut comprendre des trous ou des mailles pour servir de passoire ou d'égouttoir, ou la base peut former un tube et servir d'entonnoir.
