The present invention is directed to a collapsible cover for protecting an occupant in a seating unit having a head region and a foot region. The cover has a body comprised of a flexible material having a top portion and at least one side wall portion, the top portion having a generally ellipse shape and having a length to span the distance between the head region and foot region of the seating unit and a width to span the width of the seating unit. The sidewall portion is connected to the top portion along a substantial portion of the periphery of the top portion to provide an arched configuration to the top portion. The cover further has a single closed loop frame member made of a flexible, coil-able, resilient material, that is secured along the length of the structure's membrane body so as to assume an ellipse-like shape when viewed from above, that is bent into an arched configuration about its minor axis. The closed loop frame member is movable between an extended orientation to allow the cover to be attached to the seating unit and a collapsed orientation to allow for a reduced size of the cover for transport and storage and is connected to the periphery of the top portion to provide in the extended orientation an arched ellipse shape about the length of the top portion.. L'invention suivante concerne une couverture pliable visant à protéger un occupant dans un siège muni d'une zone de tête et d'une zone destinée aux pieds. Le corps de la couverture est composé d'un matériau souple avec une partie supérieure et au moins une partie latérale, la partie supérieure ayant généralement une forme elliptique et une longueur permettant de couvrir la distance entre la zone de tête et la zone des pieds du siège, et une largeur permettant de couvrir la largeur du siège. La partie latérale est reliée à la partie supérieure le long d'une partie importante du pourtour de la partie supérieure pour donner à celle-ci une forme de voûte. La couverture est par ailleurs munie d'un élément unique en forme de boucle fermée fait d'un matériau élastique, flexible et enroulable, qui est fixé le long du corps de la membrane de la structure afin de suggérer une forme elliptique vue d'en haut, incurvée en arcade autour de l'axe secondaire. L'élément en forme de boucle fermée est mobile entre une position étendue permettant à la couverture d'être attachée au siège et une position fermée permettant une dimension réduite de la couverture pour son transport et son rangement; l'élément est aussi relié au pourtour de la partie supérieure afin de fournir, en position étendue, une forme elliptique de la dimension de la partie supérieure. De plus, la couverture est dotée d'un moyen qui permet de l'attacher au siège et de la détacher facilement.
