A ski comprising a front runner (1), a centre runner (2) and a rear runner (3); the runners (1, 2, 3) connectable to-gether to form a longitudinal running surface, the centre runner further comprising a locking mechanism (4) operable to urge the front and rear runners into engagement with the centre runner. Part (5, 7) of the locking mechanism is concealed within the body of the ski and the remaining part (12, 13) is positioned in-between the ski boot (16) bindings so that when the ski boot is clamped into the bindings it forms a protective canopy over the locking mechanism and the assembly takes on the appearance of a one piece ski When the ski is dismantled it can be carried in a case compatible with automated luggage handling systems and inside automobiles without the need for a roof rack.
La présente invention a trait à un ski comprenant un patin avant (1), un patin central (2) et un patin arrière (3) ; les patins (1, 2, 3) peuvent être reliés ensemble afin de former une surface de roulement longitudinale, le patin central comprend en outre un mécanisme de verrouillage (4) pouvant fonctionner de manière à pousser les patins avant et arrière en vue de les mettre en prise avec le patin central. Une partie (5, 7) du mécanisme de verrouillage est dissimulée à l'intérieur du corps du ski et la partie restante (12, 13) est placée entre les fixations de la chaussure de ski (16) de sorte que lorsque la chaussure de ski est fixée dans les fixations elle forme un abri au-dessus du mécanisme de verrouillage et l'assemblage prend l'apparence d'un ski d'un seul tenant. Lorsque le ski est démonté, il peut être transporté dans un boîtier compatible avec les systèmes de manutention automatisée des bagages et à l'intérieur des automobiles sans qu'il soit nécessaire d'utiliser un porte-bagages de toit.
