A collation and/or sorting apparatus for groups of articles is exemplified by a sorting and/or shuffling device for playing cards. The apparatus comprises a sensor (15) to identify articles for collation and/or sorting, feeding means to feed cards from a stack (11) past the sensor (15) to a delivery means (14) adapted to deliver cards individually to a preselected one of a storing means (24) in an indexable magazine (20). A microprocessor (16) coupled to the feed means (14), delivery means (18), sensor (15) and magazine (20) determines according to a preprogrammed routine whether cards identified by sensor (15) are collated in the magazine (20) as an ordered deck of cards or a randomly ordered or "shuffled" deck.
L'invention concerne un appareil de regroupement et de tri de groupes d'articles, qui peut se présenter sous la forme d'un dispositif de tri et/ou de battage pour les cartes de jeux. Ledit appareil comprend un capteur (15) pour identifier les articles à regrouper et/ou à trier, des moyens d'alimentation pour envoyer des cartes faisant partie d'une pile (11), au-delà du capteur (15) à un moyen de distribution (14) conçu pour distribuer des cartes séparément à un moyen de stockage présélectionné (24) parmi d'autres dans un magasin amovible (20). Un microprocesseur (16) couplé au moyen d'alimentation (14),au moyen de distribution (18), au capteur (15) et au magasin détermine, en fonction d'un sous-programme prédéterminé, quelles cartes identifiées par le capteur (15) sont regroupées dans le magasin (20) sous forme de jeu de cartes classé ou sous forme de jeu classé de manière aléatoire ou "battu".
