The invention provides a system and method for providing a time reference in utility meter network [HO]. The novel method includes transmitting a message from a meter to a receiving device (e.g., another meter, a collector, a data collection server), where the message includes an interval and a sequence number [301]. The interval is converted to a time stamp [302], which is used to time-stamp the message in the receiving device [303]. The novel method reads data from the meter [304] and stores the data as a function of the sequence number [305].

La présente invention concerne un système et un procédé de fourniture d'une référence de temps à des compteurs de réseau de distribution. Le procédé consiste à envoyer un message d'un compteur à un terminal récepteur tel qu'un autre compteur, un collecteur ou un serveur de recueil de données, le message précisant un intervalle et un numéro d'ordre. L'intervalle devient un horodatage utilisé pour le message au niveau du terminal récepteur. Le procédé de l'invention permet ainsi la lecture des index et l'enregistrement des données en fonction du numéro d'ordre.
