A display system unit comprising an essentially flat display panel, a beamsplitter, and a concave minor, all arranged such that the beamsplitter reflects light from the panel onto the minor, the mirror reflecting and collimating such light to form a collimated image visible to an observer. A plurality of such units can be arranged such that light from each panel is reflected from the respective concave mirrors such that they form discrete, collimated images visible to the observer. Preferably a single common concave minor is utilised for collimating and reflecting light from a plurality of panels and the line of sight between at least one of the panels and the observer is substantially in the same plane as the panel, thus limiting the obstruction within the field of view.
