COLLIMATED LIGHT OPTRODE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Light generated by an illumination source (26) travels through a fiber optic cable (40) to optrode (14) which is immersed in the process fluid (16) to be analyzed. The optrode collimates the light beam before it crosses the sampling gap (68) where the beam transects the process fluid to be analyzed. As it crosses the sampling gap 68, the light beam is absorbed in a specific wavelength band by the chemical species in solution. The collimated beam is then picked up by an opposing collimated lens in the optrode and transmitted to the protected analytical module (20) by a second optical fiber (42).
