A novel curved collision cell for a mass spectrometer is described. The collision cell includes a straight section having a length that is selected to cause a precursor ion entering the straight section to lose a desired amount of kinetic energy such that when the precursor ion enters the curved section of the collision cell the precursor ion will tend to neither escape nor contact the collision cell, and thereby tending to survive its passage within the curved portion.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle cellule de collision incurvée pour un spectromètre de masse. La cellule de collision comprend une section rectiligne dont la longueur est sélectionnée pour amener un ion précurseur entrant dans la section rectiligne à perdre la quantité voulue d'énergie cinétique, de sorte que lorsque l'ion précurseur entre dans la section incurvée de la cellule de collision, l'ion précurseur n'aura tendance ni à s'échapper ni à entrer en contact avec la cellule de collision, ayant ainsi tendance à survivre à son passage à l'intérieur de la partie incurvée.
