A large-area display system includes a plurality of projectors (10a-10n) each for projecting a section of a large-area image onto a screen to produce a combined large-area image and optical probes (13a-13n) for capturing optical samples of the combined image at one or more sample points for each projector. A common color sensor (15) receives the optical samples of the combined image and controls via a computer (16), the projectors to correct for color variations in the optical samples detected by the optical probes (13a-13n). In some described embodiments, each of the probes captures its respective optical sample from a window in a reflector surface for the respective projector, which window is sufficiently small as not to perturb the combined image when viewed by the viewer. In other described embodiments, each probe is movable from an operative position in the path of the respective section of the combined image, to a non-operative position out of such path so as not perturb the combined image when viewed by the viewer.
Cette invention se rapporte à un système d'affichage de grande surface, qui comprend plusieurs projecteurs destinés chacun à projeter une section d'une image de grande surface sur un écran, en vue de produire une image de grande surface combinée, et des sondes optiques destinées à capturer des échantillons optiques de l'image combinée au niveau d'un ou de plusieurs points de l'échantillon pour chaque projecteur. Un capteur de couleur commun reçoit les échantillons optiques de l'image combinée et commande les projecteurs par l'intermédiaire d'un ordinateur, en vue de corriger les variations de couleur dans les échantillons optiques détectés par les sondes optiques. Dans certains modes de réalisation décrits, chacune des sondes capture son échantillon optique respectif à partir d'une fenêtre dans une surface réfléchissante pour le projecteur respectif, cette fenêtre étant suffisamment petite pour ne pas perturber l'image combinée, lorsque celle-ci est vue par le spectateur. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation décrits, chaque sonde peut se déplacer depuis une position opérationnelle située dans la trajectoire de la section respective de l'image combinée jusqu'à une position non opérationnelle située hors de cette trajectoire, afin de ne pas perturber l'image combinée, lorsque celle-ci est vue par le spectateur.
