14 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a color cathode-ray tube comprising at least a front screen panel, a funnel, and an electron gun. A repeated sequence of red phosphor layers, green phosphor layers, and blue phosphor layers, with non-luminous layers being interposed between adjacent phosphor layers, is stacked to form a laminate, and the laminate is sliced in the thickness direction thereof to form a thin layer that is burned in such a manner that the burned slice is provided as a phosphor layer on the front screen panel. A color cathode-ray tube of an extremely high brightness and a high resolution can be constructed very efficiently in this way, and the resultant color cathode-ray tube is suitable for use as a compact CRT.
