ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This application depicts a rectangular color cathode ray tube having a faceplate and a mating funnel, on the face- plate of which is a system of four suspension devices, one at each corner of the mask, for detachably supporting a non- self-rigid shadow mask adjacent a screen-bearing inner surface of the faceplate. Each of the mask suspension devices comprises mask-mounted and envelope-associated components, the devices being characterized by one of the components including spring means having a provision for retentively engaging in a male- female relationship a mating provision on the other of the components. In at least one of the suspension devices the provisions on the mask-mounted and envelope-associated components are of reverse gender from that of the diagonally opposite device to assure a one- way-only suspension of the mask on the faceplate. - 1 -
