ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This disclosure depicts a color cathode ray tube having an envelope including an approximately rectangular face- plate and a funnel which mates with and is sealed to the faceplate. The tube is characterized by having an internal magnetic shield configured to fit within the funnel so as to enclose a major part of the beam deflection space within the envelope. The shield has around the periphery thereof a plurality of mounting means which retentively engage provisions on the faceplate such that the shield is supported directly by the faceplate.
