The present invention is a method and apparatus for using virtual reality on screen display (12a) to present a test stimulus of a first color superimposed on a background of a second color, for testing and qualifying visual information from the eye, the visual pathways, and the brain. Headgear (12) configuration allows the patient to observe a field of view into which sequenced test stimuli are presented by an excitation device commanded by a computer (13). Interactive sensory feedback both to and from the patient enables computer driven presentation, modulation of test stimuli to measure with precision such parameters as visual field performance, visual acuity, and color vision. Using the system allows the patient unprecedented freedom of movement of the head, body minimizing or even eliminating the stress, and fatigue common with conventional non-virtual reality visual field testing systems.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil utilisant une réalité virtuelle affichée sur un écran (12a) pour présenter un stimulus de test constitué d'une première couleur superposée sur un fond d'une deuxième couleur, en vue de tester et de quantifier des informations visuelles provenant de l'oeil, du système visuel et du cerveau. Une configuration de casque (12) permet au patient d'observer un champ de vision dans lequel des stimuli de test séquencés sont présentés par un dispositif d'excitation commandé par un ordinateur (13). Des retours sensoriels interactifs vers le patient et provenant de celui-ci permettent de mettre en oeuvre une présentation et une modulation de stimuli de test commandées par ordinateur en vue de mesurer avec précision des paramètres tels que la performance de champ visuel, l'acuité visuelle et la vision des couleurs. Le système offre au patient une liberté de mouvement sans précédent de la tête et du corps, ce qui permet de réduire au minimum ou même d'éliminer la tension et la fatigue observées habituellement avec des systèmes classiques de test de champ visuel à réalité non virtuelle.
