A colorant for thermoplastic resins which is excellent in dispersibility, transparency, ultraviolet-shielding properties, etc.; a thermoplastic resin composition containing the colorant; and a thermoplastic resin molding having a satisfactory dispersion state, transparency, ultraviolet-shielding properties, stretchability, and surface smoothness. The colorant for thermoplastic resins comprises: surface-treated .alpha.-ferric oxide (A) obtained by coating non-acicular .alpha.-ferric oxide having an average particle diameter of 0.01 to 0.06 µm and an aspect ratio of 0.2 to 1.0 with a polyhydric alcohol and an organopolysiloxane; and a dispersant (B) comprising a metal hydroxycarboxylate (B1). It optionally further contains a methine dye (C). The thermoplastic resin composition and the molding are obtained by using the colorant for thermoplastic resins. Also provided is a molding obtained by coating the molding with a carbon film.

L'invention concerne un colorant pour résines thermoplastiques présentant d'excellentes propriétés de dispersibilité, de transparence, de protection contre les ultraviolets, etc., une composition de résine thermoplastique contenant ce colorant, ainsi qu'un moulage de résine thermoplastique présentant un état de dispersion satisfaisant et d'excellentes propriétés de transparence, de protection contre les ultraviolets, d'aptitude à l'étirage et d'égalité de surface. Ce colorant pour résines thermoplastiques comprend un oxyde .alpha.-ferrique traité en surface (A) obtenu par revêtement d'un oxyde .alpha.-ferrique non aciculaire présentant un diamètre des particules moyen de 0,01 à 0,06 µm et un rapport de forme de 0,2 à 1,0 avec un alcool polyhydrique et un organopolysiloxane, ainsi qu'un dispersant (B) comprenant un hydroxycarboxylate métallique (B1). En outre, il contient éventuellement un colorant de méthine (C). On obtient cette composition de résine thermoplastique et ce moulage au moyen dudit colorant pour résines thermoplastiques. L'invention concerne également un moulage obtenu par revêtement du moulage avec un film de carbone.
