Abstract of the Disclosure: Colored polymeric com- pounds of the general formula Image where A is the radical of a quaternized, methylene- active compound, R is unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl, R1 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, hydroxyl, C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-alkoxy, T is alkylene which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C1-C4- alkoxy or hydroxyl, or is a radical of the formula Image M? is an anion and n is a number >1. The compounds according to the invention are particularly suitable for coloring paper stock.
