17 ABSTRACT: A colour filter having filter elements res- pectively passing light of the colours red (R), green (G) and blue (B) is provided on a semiconductor image sensor which comprises a system of photosensitive ele- ments. The filter elements are separated by grooves which prevent the running of dye liqiud during dyeing the various systems of filter elements and hence the occurrence of colour defects. Instead of grooves the filter elements may also be separated by regions which have been converted into a structure which is substan- tially impervious to liquid. The colour filters may also be used in a cathode-ray tube for imaging colour pictures.
