- 1 - COLOR PRINTING METHOD BASED ON UNLIMITED VIRTUAL OR IMAGINARY SCREENS HAVING HALFTONE DOTS OF A SINGLE OR MIXED TYPE DISTRIBUTION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A color printing method is disclosed which is based on virtual or imaginary screens having halftone dots of a single or mixed type distribution . Virtual screens are related to the printing process in which a media is used to transfer the halftone dots pattern to the press' actual printing unit . Imaginary screens are related to any printing process in which a specific digitally manipulated halftone dots pattern activates the printing engine within various equipment such as : computer to plate presses, plotters, printers, copying or facsimile machines, proofers . By properly selecting the halftone dots distribution, that can be either of single or mixed type within one screen or within the separation screens , it is possible to cancel any linear, worm or rosette type Moiré artifacts without inducing tonal rendition shifts . In addition to these merits, the improved and versatile halftone dots distribution allows the Moiré free printing of unlimited subtractive and/or additive colors by using fairly less accurate, thus substantially less expensive printing equipment.
