ABSTRACT In a vertical column adapted to be used in a modular construction system for office furniture, comprising a lower portion adapted to be used as a rest for anhorizontal element forming a working surface for the system and as a guiding channel for the wires feeding the electrical apparatuses received on said surface, and an upper portion extending above and beyond said lower surface and adapted to be used as a guiding channel and as a connectors area for said wires, the improvement consisting in that the vertical front face of said upper portion of the column is mounted slidable along grooves in the vertical edges of the walls forming said upper portion, preferably in one piece with the horizontal cover of the column top, to close the inner space of said upper portion and conceal all connectors, and in that said all connectors provided in said connector area of said upper portion are mounted as an assembly in a connector block slidably movable in the rear corner formed by said walls to be placed and removed at will depending upon the number and the nature of said connectors.
