ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A column structure for supporting components of a building, reservoir or the like. The column structure comprises a base section and an elongated upper section, one end of which is to be supported normally in vertical orientation on the base section. The base section and the upper section are secured together so that the upper section can pivot with respect to the base section about an axis normal to the longitudinal axis of the upper section. A bearing surface associated with the column structure receives and supports components of the building structure. The column structure according to the present invention is multi-purpose, not only providing support for the components of the building structure but also supporting elements used in the erection of such components and, where used within a reservoir structure, providing an overflow system for excess fluid within the structure.
