ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE N-Chloroacetyl-N-(2,6-di-substituted phenyl)-alanine esters of the formula Image (I) in which R represents straight-chain or branched alkyl with 3 to 6 carbon atoms; alkenyl with 3 to 4 carbon atoms, alkynyl with 3 to 4 carbon atoms; halogenoalkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms; cyclohexyl; alkoxyalkyl or alkoxyalkoxyalkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms in each alkyl moiety; alkanoyl- oxyalkyl or (haloalkanoyloxy)alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety and 2 to 5 carbon atoms in the alkanoyl moiety, X represents alkyl with 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and Y represents alkyl with 1 to 5 carbon atoms, which possess fungicidal properties.
