The invention relates to a combination of an intra- uterine contraceptive device and an applicator. The device consists of a cylindrical body, two elastic arms and a securing component at the caudal end. The applicator consists of a hollow rod with at least one longitudinal slot, a plunger easily movable therein and a push-rod making a force fit with the plunger and difficult to move in relation thereto. Here, the push-rod consists of an outer body surrounding a hollow rod, a slider which contacts the plunger and a shoulder which couples the slider and the outer body and projects through the longitudinal slot in the hollow rod. The combination makes it easier to insert the device, ensures that it is properly seated and prevents injury during or after the insertion of the device.
