A composition combining an extracellular matrix-degrading protease and a growth factor related to epithelial cell functions together without inactivation or degradation of the growth factor by the protease. Preferably, the protease is plasmin/plasminogen or a related one, and the growth factor is KGF or a related one. The combination associates two independent, but synergistic functions essential to the re-epithelialization process or healing process, i.e, stimulating epithelial cell proliferation/differentiation and facilitating its migration by clearing the extracellular matrix components. The combination may be constructed in various ways and can be used to treat wounds or any other disease conditions involving cells of epithelial origin or any other cell types that the growth factor may affect.

L'invention concerne une composition permettant de combiner une protéase de dégradation de matrice extracellulaire et un facteur de croissance associé à des fonctions de cellules épithéliales sans inactivation ou dégradation dudit facteur de croissance par la protéase. Ladite protéase est, de préférence, une plasmine/plasminogène ou analogue et le facteur de croissance est KGF ou analogue. Cette combinaison associe deux fonctions indépendantes mais synergétiques essentielles à un processus de ré-épithélialisation ou à un processus de cicatrisation, c'est-à-dire, stimulant la prolifération/différentiation des cellules épithéliales et facilitant leur migration par dégagement des composants de la matrice extracellulaire. Ladite combinaison peut être construite de différentes manières et utilisée pour traiter des plaies ou d'autres états maladifs impliquant des cellules d'origine épithéliale ou d'autres types de cellules pouvant être affectées par le facteur de croissance.
