The present invention relates to a combination of therapeutic agents useful in the treatment of obstructive airways and other inflammatory diseases comprising (I) a PDEIV inhibitor that is therapeutically effective in the treatment of said diseases when administered by inhalation; together with (II) an anti-cholinergic agent comprising a member selected from the group consisting of tiotropium and derivatives thereof that is therapeutically effective in the treatment of said diseases when administered by inhalation; as well as to a method of treating said obstructive airways and other inflammatory diseases comprising administering to said mammal by inhalation a therapeutically effective amount of said combination of therapeutic agents; and a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier together with said combination of therapeutic agents; and a package containing a pharmaceutical composition for insertion into a device capable of simultaneous or sequential delivery of said pharmaceutical composition in the form of an aerosol or dry powder dispersion to said mammal, where said device is a metered dose inhaler or a dry powder inhaler. It is preferred that said anti-cholinergic agent component be tiotropium bromide.
La présente invention concerne une combinaison d'agents thérapeutiques utiles dans le traitement des maladies obstructives des voies aériennes et d'autres maladies inflammatoires comprenant (I) un inhibiteur de PDEIV qui est thérapeutiquement efficace dans le traitement de ces maladies lorsqu'il est administré par inhalation ; associé à (II) un agent anti-cholinergique comprenant un élément sélectionné dans le groupe formé par le tiotropium et ses dérivés, lequel est thérapeutiquement efficace dans le traitement desdites maladies lorsqu'il est administré par inhalation. Cette invention concerne également une méthode de traitement desdites maladies obstructives des voies aériennes et des maladies inflammatoires qui consiste à administrer audit mammifère, par inhalation, une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace de ladite combinaison d'agents thérapeutiques ; et une composition pharmaceutique comprenant un support pharmaceutiquement acceptable et ladite combinaison d'agents thérapeutiques; et un conditionnement contenant la composition pharmaceutique qui est prévu pour être inséré dans un dispositif capable de distribuer audit mammifère, de manière simultanée ou séquentielle ladite composition pharmaceutique sous forme d'un aérosol ou d'une dispersion de poudre sèche, ledit dispositif étant un inhalateur du type aérosol-doseur ou un inhalateur à poudre sèche. De préférence, ledit constituant anti-cholinergique est du bromure de tiotropium.
