Combinations including vanadium (IV)/(V) compounds and pharmaceutically acceptable amines selected from amongst the group of semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase substrates (SSAO) are imitators of insulin. The preferred vanadium (IV)/(V) compounds are vanadyl salts, vanadyl complexes and vanadates (for example, sodium orthovanadate ). The preferred amines are tyramine and benzylamine. As a result of a synergy between the vanadium compound and the amine disclosed herein, an effective concentration of vanadate in said combination is lower than the one corresponding to vanadate alone. Consequently, the combination has a much lower toxicity than the vanadium compound alone, as is already known, which provides a crucial advantage of the combination for its use in the treatment and/or prevention of Diabetes mellitus.

L'invention concerne des combinaisons qui comprennent des composés de vanadium (IV)/(V) et des amines pharmaceutiquement acceptables choisis dans le groupe composé de substrats de l'amino-oxydase sensible au semi-carbazide (SSAO) et qui sont des imitateurs de l'insuline.
