The invention relates to a combination, such as a combined preparation or pharmaceutical composition, respectively, which comprises; (1) a dipeptidylpeptidase - IV (DPP-IV) inhibitor, (2) one antidiabetic selected from thiazolidinediones (glitazones), non-glitazone type PPAR agonists, PPAR agonists or dual PPAR / PPAR agonists, and (3) metformin, for simultaneous, separate or sequential use, especially in the prevention, delay of progression or treatment of conditions mediated by dipeptidylpeptidase - IV (DPP-IV), in particular diabetes, more particular type 2 diabetes mellitus, conditions of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), conditions of impaired fasting plasma glucose, metabolic acidosis, ketosis, arthritis, obesity and osteoporosis; the use of such combination for the preparation of a pharmaceutical preparation for the prevention, delay of progression or treatment of such conditions; the use of such combination for the cosmetic treatment of a mammal in order to effect a cosmetically beneficial loss of body weight; a method of prevention, delay of progression or treatment of conditions mediated by DPP-IV; a method of improving the bodily appearance of a warm-blooded animal.
L'invention concerne une combinaison, telle qu'une composition pharmaceutique ou une préparation combinée, contenant respectivement: (1) un inhibiteur de dipeptidylpeptidase IV (DPP-IV); (2) un antidiabétique choisi parmi des thiazolidinediones (glitazones), des agonistes PPAR.gamma. de type non glitazone, des agonistes PPAR.alpha. ou des agonistes PPAR.gamma./PPAR.alpha. doubles; et (3) de la metformine, destinée à un usage simultané, distinct ou séquentiel, en particulier dans la prévention, le retardement de l'évolution ou le traitement d'états induits par la dipeptidylpeptidase - IV (DPP-IV), notamment le diabète, en particulier le diabète de type 2, les états de tolérance abaissée au glucose (IGT), les états liés à une perturbation du glucose plasmatique à jeun, l'acidose métabolique, la cétose, l'arthrite, l'obésité et l'ostéoporose. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de cette combinaison dans la préparation d'une composition pharmaceutique destinée à la prévention, au retardement de l'évolution ou au traitement des ces états. L'invention concerne encore l'utilisation de cette combinaison dans le traitement cosmétique d'un mammifère pour entraîner une perte pondérale avantageuse du point de vue cosmétique. L'invention concerne enfin une méthode de prévention, de retardement de l'évolution ou de traitement d'états induits par la DPP-IV, ainsi qu'une méthode visant à améliorer l'apparence physique d'un animal à sang chaud.
