A combination cover/liner for a paint tray includes a flange around the periphery of its open top end. The flange has an inner ledge for resting on the top edge of a paint tray when the cover/liner is used as a tray liner, and an outer ledge for resting on the flange of a liner in the tray. A vertical outer end on the flange overlaps the tray or liner when the cover/liner is used as a cover to hold the cover/liner in position.
