ABSTRACT The invention relates to a combination seal and vent particularly for sealing an area from accumulation of environmental elements and other foreign matter and being capable of providing pressure or vacuum relief should such occur. The area to be shielded is enclosed completely except for an opening which is defined by spaced-apart overlapping flanges. The combination seal and vent comprises generally a body member which is adapted to be attached to one of the flanges and which has a seal projecting therefrom. When installed, the seal is normally in sealing contact with the adjacent flange, preventing the ingress of environmental elements into the enclosed area. Should a pressure differential occur between the interior and exterior of the enclosed area, the seal flexes to permit air flow therearound. The seal returns to its sealing position when the pressure has been substantially equalized. Alternately, the seal may be air-permeable which will generally allow continuous pressure equalization while preventing the accumulation of foreign matter within the enclosed area.
