The present invention relates to pharmaceutical preparations and methods for treating individuals infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The pharmaceutical preparations comprise an immunomodulating agent and a anti- retroviral compound. The pharmaceutical preparations are used to treat HIV infected patients, particularly for gastrointestinal complications arising from viral infection. In addition, the pharmaceutical preparations of the present invention have the effect of raising the levels of CD4+ single positive and CD4+ and CD8 double positive T cells, thus promoting restoration and normalization of the immune system following HIV infection.
La présente invention a trait à des préparations pharmaceutiques et des procédés permettant le traitement de sujets atteints du virus de l'immunodéficience humain (VIH). Les préparations pharmaceutiques comprennent un agent immunorégulateur et un composé antirétroviral. Les préparations pharmaceutiques sont utilisées pour le traitement de patients atteints de VIH, notamment pour les complications gastro-intestinales résultant d'une infection virale. En outre, les préparations pharmaceutiques de la présente invention ont pour effet d'élever les niveaux des lymphocytes T CD4?+ ¿positifs simples et de CD4?+¿ et CD8?+¿ positifs doubles, favorisant ainsi la restauration et la normalisation du système immunitaire suite à une infection de VIH.
