The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing osteoporosis in a mammal in need of treatment which composition comprises an effective amount of a compound of formula I (see fig.I) wherein R1 and R2 may be the same or different provided that, when R1 and R2 are the same, each is a methyl or ethyl group, and , when R1 and R2 are different, one of them is a methyl or ethyl group and the other is hydrogen or a benzyl group; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; together with a bone resorption inhibiting polyphosphonate, or with parathyroid hormone.

Composition pharmaceutique pour le traitement ou la prévention de l'ostéoporose chez un mammifère devant être traité. La composition renferme une quantité efficace : d'un composé de formule I (voir fig. I), où R1 et R2 peuvent être les mêmes ou différents, à la condition que, si R1 et R2 sont les mêmes, chacun est un méthyle ou un éthyle, et si R1 et R2 sont différents, l'un est un méthyle ou un éthyle et l'autre un hydrogène ou un benzyle; ou d'un sel correspondant, acceptable en pharmacie, avec un polyphosphonate inhibiteur de la résorption osseuse, ou encore avec la parathormone.
