It is intended to provide medicinal compositions and the like useful in treating depression which contain a compound having an antagonism to adenosine A2A receptor (for example, (E)-8-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-1,3-diethyl-7-methyl- 3,7-dihydro-1H-purin-2,6-dione) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof together with an antidepressant (for example, a tricyclic antidepressant, a tetracyclic antidepressant, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, a selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor, a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, a serotonin/noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor or a serotonin 2 antagonist).
